This private four days tour covers some of the most historical places in Greece; the Argolida region, the world-famous city of Ancient Olympia (birthplace of the Olympic Games), the gorgeous Sanctuary of Delphi (with the worldwide known Oracle) and the unique Meteora Monasteries (located on the top of imposing rocks / Unesco World Heritage site).

Requirements

Please provide us with pick up point details (hotel name or apartment’s address, cruise ship name, arrival flight details or other) and with drop off point details (if different from pick up point). 

Important Information

Our driver will meet you at pre-defined point (i.e. hotel lobby, outside of the building of your  building of your apartment, at Piraeus Port, at Athens Airport or else) 10 minutes before the scheduled pick up time.

Due to the reason that Meteora rocks have been declared by the Greek State as a Holy Place, the dressing for entering into the monasteries has to be appropriate. At the entrance of the monasteries, clothing is provided only to women. Men are not allowed to enter if they are wearing shorts above the knee or sleeveless shirts.

 

Further Information / Detailed Tour Description
First Day: Our private 4 days tour starts with driving via the coastal highway towards Peloponnese. While on route you will see the area of the Saronic Gulf where the famous Naval Battle of Salamis took place in 480 B.C. between the Greeks & the Persians. Our first stop/visit is to the famous Corinth Canal which, through Isthmus, connects the Corinthian Gulf (Ionian Sea) with the Saronic Gulf (Aegean Sea) and cuts Peloponnese peninsula from the rest Greek mainland. We continue our private tour with our first sight which is the Ancient Corinthos. Exploring the archaeological area, you will meet the Temple of Apollo (built on a rocky hill), the Theatre, the Roman Odeon, the Glauke fountain into a natural rock & the Archaeological Museum. Besides them there is the famous "Vema" (tribunal) from which St. Paul preached to the Corinthians. Our next visit is at the famous Mycenae (the Kingdom of King Agamemnon). Amongst others, you will admire the Lions’ Gate, the Cyclopean Walls, the Treasure of Atreus (Agamemnon Grave), the Subterranean Cistern & the Archaeological Museum.
Our private tour goes on with our visit in Nafplio, an old & romantic seaport town which was the first capital of Greece after the Greek Revolution in 1821 until 1834. You will be lost in the picturesque streets of the old town admiring old classical governmental buildings, especially in the Constitution Square. You will enjoy a traditional Greek lunch, while attending the famous Bourtzi castle located in the middle of the harbor of Nafplio. Its time for our last sight of the first tour day, the Ancient Epidaurus. You will explore the archaeological area of the Sanctuary of Asklepios, with the famous - for its acoustic - Ancient Theatre & the archaeological museum. We continue our driving through traditional villages (Lagadia, Levidi, etc) of mount Mainalon and we finally arrive in the world–famous city of Ancient Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games. Time for dinner and then you will spend your night in a charm hotel in the area.

Second Day: In the morning and after having your breakfast, you will visit the unique archaeological sight of Ancient Olympia, where the first Olympic Games took place on 776 B.C. Amongst decades of monuments, you will admire the Temple of Zeus, the Temple of Hera, the Philipeion, the Palestra, the Ancient Stadium, the Ancient Gymnasium, the Prytaneion, the Bouleuterion & the Leonidaion. Your knowledge will be complemented with the visit of the archaeological museum, one of the most important museums in Greece, with permanent exhibition of findings from the excavations, dating since prehistoric times. Time for having your lunch and our private tour continues with driving through Pyrgos & Patras, with crossing the spectacular Rio – Antirio bridge and we finally arrive in the city of Delphi. Time for dinner and then you will spend your night in a charm hotel in the area.

Third Day : In the morning and after having your breakfast, you will visit "the center of the world" – as it was regarded by the ancients – the famous Sanctuary of Delphi with the worldwide known Oracle. You will wander through the archaeological area admiring the Temple of Apollo, the Treasury of the Athenians, the Polygonal wall, the Treasury of the Siphnians, the Stoa of the Athenians, the ancient theater, the Sacred Way, the ancient Gymnasium, the Castalian Spring, the ancient Stadium & the Tholos of Athena Pronaia. Your knowledge will be complemented with the visit to the archaeological museum where you will follow the history of the most famous ancient oracle & you will admire sculpture, statues & minor objects donated to the sanctuary. Time for a traditional Greek lunch in the town of Delphi and we continue with driving towards central Greece and in the evening we arrive in Kalampaka which is located just in the shadow of Meteora Rocks (also known as "The Rocks of the God"). Time for dinner and then you will spend your night in a charm hotel in the area.

Fourth Day: In the morning and after having your breakfast, we shall "climp" to the imposing rock towers of Meteora with the unique phenomenon to have on their top Orthodox monasteries built since middle ages. The whole complex of the rocks with the monasteries has been listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites. You shall have the opportunity to visit & admire some the most important monasteries such as the Monastery of Great Meteoron, the Monastery of Rousanou, the Monastery of Agia Triada (Holy Triniti), the Varlaam Monastery, the Monastery of Saint Nikolaos Anapafsa & the Monastery of Saint Stephanos.
After having lunch & during our way back to Athens we shall have a short stop/vist to Thermopylae where the famous battle between the Greeks & the Persians took place in 480 B.C. You will admire the marvelous statue of King of Sparta, Leonidas who with 300 Spartans & 700 Thespians faced numerous Persian forces under the command of King Xerxes A’. It was there that Leonidas told to Xerxes the world famous phrase "Μολών Λαβέ (Molon Labe)" which means "Come & Get It". Our private 4 days  adventure reaches to the end with our returning back to starting point.
