First Day : Our private 6 days tour starts with driving via the coastal highway towards Peloponnese. While on route you will see the area of the Saronic Gulf where the famous Naval Battle of Salamis took place in 480 B.C. between the Greeks & the Persians. Our first stop/visit is to the famous Corinth Canal which, through Isthmus, connects the Corinthian Gulf (Ionian Sea) with the Saronic Gulf (Aegean Sea) and cuts Peloponnese peninsula from the rest Greek mainland. We continue our private tour with our first sight which is the Ancient Corinthos. Exploring the archaeological area, you will meet the Temple of Apollo (built on a rocky hill), the Theatre, the Roman Odeon, the Glauke fountain into a natural rock & the Archaeological Museum. Besides them there is the famous "Vema" (tribunal) from which St. Paul preached to the Corinthians. Our next visit is at the famous Mycenae (the Kingdom of King Agamemnon). Amongst others, you will admire the Lions’ Gate, the Cyclopean Walls, the Treasure of Atreus (Agamemnon Grave), the Subterranean Cistern & the Archaeological Museum.
Our private touring goes on with driving to the Ancient Epidaurus. You will explore the archaeological area of the Sanctuary of Asklepios, with the famous - for its acoustic - Ancient Theatre and the archaeological museum. We then drive to our last site of the first tour day, to Nafplio, an old & romantic seaport town which was the first capital of Greece after the Greek Revolution in 1821 until 1834. You will be lost in the picturesque streets of the old town admiring old classical governmental buildings, especially in the Constitution Square. You will enjoy a traditional Greek dinner while attending the famous Bourtzi castle located in the middle of the harbor of Nafplio. Then you will spend your night in a charm hotel in the area.
Second Day : In the morning and after having your breakfast, we start driving along the coastal road towards south Peloponnese. We will pass via coastal places of wild nature while admiring the blue scene of the Argolic Gulf. We shall reach to one of the major attractions in Peloponnese, the Byzantine fortress town of Monemvasia (its name derives from the combination of two Greek words and means the only entrance). Monemvasia is a perfectly preserved medieval settlement (connected with the main land via a bridge), with a unique magical atmosphere and still inhabited. While crossing the entrance of the old town you will start a historic journey back through the ages. Castles, walls, old mansions, narrow cobbled lanes, churches, low arches and vaults, coats of arms, imperial thrones, Byzantine icons are some of the unique beauties that you will admire. You will enjoy a marvelous traditional greek lunch in one of the charm tavernas.
Our next visit will be to the famous Byzantine Mystras (UNESCO protected site) which is located in a physical fortified hill. You will visit the medieval castle, the fortified settlement with palaces, many churches and monasteries and the Archaeological museum. Our second day ends with our arrival to the city of Sparti, the capital of Lakonia and birthplace of the King of Spartans Leonidas, where after dinner, you will spend your night in a charm hotel in the area.
Third Day : In the morning and after having your breakfast you will have the opportunity to visit the Sparti sights, such as the Statue of the King Leonidas, the Archaeological museum and the Olive museum. We shall proceed with the visit to Diros Caves. You will explore the unique caves by small boats and through narrow passage ways. You will admire some of the most beautiful formations of stalagmites and stalaktites. We shall then drive to the city of Kalamata, the capital of Messinia, where, after dinner, you will spend your night in a charm hotel in the area.
Fourth Day : In the morning, and after having your breakfast, we shall start with driving to the Ancient Messene. You will visit the archaeological area where you will see the Messene Theatre, the Sanctuaries at Ithomi, the Arsenoe Spring, the Messene Fortifications, the Funerary Monuments the ruins of the Early Byzantine Basilika and the Archaeological Museum of Messene.
We shall then proceed with driving to Bassae where you will admire the famous Temple of Apollo Epikourios. It is one of the most important temples of antiquity and it is unique in the history of the ancient Greek architecture. Our fourth day ends with driving to the world–famous city of Ancient Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games. Time for dinner and you will spend your night in a charm hotel in the area.
Fifth Day : In the morning and after having your breakfast, you will visit the unique archaeological sight of Ancient Olympia, where the first Olympic Games took place on 776 B.C. Amongst decades of monuments, you will admire the Temple of Zeus, the Temple of Hera, the Philipeion, the Palestra, the Ancient Stadium, the Ancient Gymnasium, the Prytaneion, the Bouleuterion & the Leonidaion. Your knowledge will be complemented with the visit of the archaeological museum, one of the most important museums in Greece, with permanent exhibition of findings from the excavations, dating since prehistoric times. After having lunch we shall proceed with driving through a marvelous natural environment until reaching the small town of Kalavrita. You will then visit the famous Monastery of Agia Lavra which was initially built in 961 AD. From there the Greeks started the revolution against the Ottomans. Time for dinner and you will spend your night in a charm hotel in the area.
Sixth Day : In the morning and after having your breakfast, we shall go to the Cave of Lakes. You will visit this unique cave with the three lakes and will admire the seldom beauty of the formations of stalagmites and stalaktiktes. While leaving the Kalavrita area you shall have the unique opportunity to use the famous Odontotos Rack Railway which connects Kalavrita with Diakopto. The Odontotos Rack Railway follows a marvelous natural route via Gorge of Vouraikos river. Our private 6 days adventure reaches to the end with our returning back to starting point in Athens.
