Athens Catholic Cathedral

Description

This special tour combines the sightseeing of the main sites of Athens & of Ancient Corinthos with the places where St. Paul met the Athenians & the Corinthians. You will start with the visit to the naturally fortified hill of the Acropolis, the cornerstone of Athens existence. You will travel back in ancient times walking among the Propylaea, the Temple of Athens Nike, the unique Parthenon & the Erechteion. From the top you will have a panoramic view of the ancient theater of Dionisos & of the Herodion (Odeion of Herodes Atticus). You will also discover the Areopagus (Mar’s Hill) where St. Paul preached the Athenians.

Your next visit will be the Ancient Agora where St. Paul met the Athenians philosophers & exchanged thoughts & ideas regarding the new religion. Our private tour continues with the visit of the Temple of Zeus & of the Hadrian’s Arch along with the famous Panathenaic Stadium (also known as Kallimarmaron) where the first modern Olympic Games were revived on 1896. Next stop is the Presidential Mansion (ex-Royal Palace) where you will monitor the traditional Change of the Guard. Our car will then climb you to St. George Lycabetus Hill with the best panoramic view of Athens (ideal place for taking photos). While on route of our private tour, you will see important buildings & places such as the National Library, the Academy, the Univercity, the Old Greek Parliament, the Catholic Cathedral (Church of Dionysios Areopagitis or St. Denis) & the Syntagma Square (Parliament building & Tomb of Unknown Soldier).

We finally reach the famous Plaka. You will be lost in the narrow streets where the spirit of old Athens exists. Time for lunch & we pass in the second part of our private tour with driving via the coastal highway towards Peloponnese.

Our first stop/visit (ideal for taking photos) is the famous Canal of Corinthos which, through Isthmus, connects the Corinthian Gulf (Ionian Sea) with the Saronic Gulf (Aegean Sea) & cuts Peloponnese peninsula from the rest Greek mainland. We continue our private tour with our main destination which is the Ancient Corinthos. You will find the famous "Vema" (tribunal) from where St. Paul preached the Corinthians. Further exploring the archaeological area you will meet the Temple of Apollo (built on a rocky hill), the Theatre, the Roman Odeon & the Glauke fountain into a natural rock. Your knowledge will be complemented in the Archaeological Museum. Our next visit is the Acrocorinthos (the Acropolis), a monolithic rock overseeing the ancient Corinthos. You will find ruins of the Temple of Aphrodite, of the Ano Peirene Spring & of many churches. The final stop/visit is in Kechries port from where St. Paul started his trip to Ephesus. Our private tour is concluded with the return back to our starting point in Athens. Contact us for further details & info.
