First Day : Our private tour starts with driving towards central Greece. Our first stop is at Thermopylae where the famous battle between the Greeks and the Persians took place in 480 B.C. You will admire the marvelous statue of King of Sparta, Leonidas who with 300 Spartans and 700 Thespians faced numerous Persian forces under the command of King Xerxes A’. We continue driving until reaching Meteora Rocks (also known as “The Rocks of the God”). We will “climp” to the imposing rock towers with the unique phenomenon to have on their top, Orthodox monasteries built since middle ages. The whole complex of the rocks with the monasteries has been listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites. You shall have the opportunity to visit and admire some of the most important monasteries such as the Monastery of Great Meteoron, the Monastery of Rousanou, the Monastery of Agia Triada (Holy Triniti), the Varlaam Monastery, the Monastery of Saint Nikolaos Anapafsa, the Monastery of Saint Stephanos. Time for dinner and you will spend your night in a charmy family run hotel.

 

Second Day : In the morning and after breakfast, we continue our tour with the visit to Vergina (located beside the ancient city of Aigai, the ancient capital of the Kingdom of Macedonia). You will explore the archaeological area where amongst others you will see the Grave of King Philippos B’ father of Alexander the Great and the ruins of the Royal Palace. You will also visit the archaeological museum (an underground building) where you will be witnessed of the Vergina Treasures (valuable finds from the royal graves and the palace). Our next stop of the day will be the city of Veroia where you will visit the famous Vema (Tribunal) from which St. Paul preached to the Veroians and to the Jews of the city. We shall conclude the day with driving to Thessaloniki where you will spend your night in a charmy hotel.

Third Day : In the morning and after breakfast, we will tour the city of Thessaloniki where St. Paul preached the Thessalonians. You will visit the Arch of Galerious, the Rotunda, the Basilica of St. Demetrios with the underground “Crypt”, the Old City Walls and the Vlatadon Monastery. We continue our tour with driving to Pfilippoi. You will visit the archaeological site with the Acropolis, the Theatre, the Prison where St. Paul and Silas were imprisoned and the “Baptismal” where the first European woman, named Lydia, was baptized. We shall conclude the day with driving to the city of Kavala where St. Paul came to Europe for first time. You will spend your night in a charmy hotel.

 

Fourth Day : In the morning and after breakfast, we continue our tour with driving until reaching the northern foothills of Mount Olympus (the home of the Ancient Greek Gods) where Dion is located. You will visit the archaeological area, where amongst others you will see the Sanctuary of Zeus Olympios, the Sanctuary of Isis, the Great Thermae, the Necropolis, and the Ancient & Roman Theaters. You will also visit the archaeological museum. We continue driving until the city of Delphi where you will spend your night in a charmy hotel.

Treasury of Athenians - Delphi

Fifth Day : In the morning, and after breakfast, you will visit “the center of the world” – as it was regarded by the ancients – the famous Sanctuary of Delphi with the worldwide known Oracle. You will wander through the archaeological area admiring the Temple of Apollo, the Treasury of the Athenians, the Polygonal wall, the Treasury of the Siphnians, the Stoa of the Athenians, the ancient theater, the Sacred Way, the ancient Gymnasium, the Castalian Spring, the ancient Stadium and the Tholos of Athena Pronaia. Your knowledge will be complemented with the visit to the Archaeological museum where you will follow the history of the most famous ancient oracle and you will admire sculpture, statues and minor objects donated to the sanctuary. Our next stop will be the famous Hosios Loukas Monastery, one of the most important monuments of Byzantine architecture and art which has been listed on UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites. We continue our tour with driving towards Peloponnese. We shall have a stop/visit to the famous Canal of Corinthos which, through Isthmus, connects the Corinthian Gulf (Ionian Sea) with Saronic Gulf (Aegean Sea) and cuts Peloponnese peninsula from the rest Greek mainland. Last stop of the day will be the city of Nafplio, an old romantic seaport town which was the first capital of Greece after the Greek Revolution in 1821 until 1834. You will be lost in the picturesque streets of the old town admiring old classical governmental buildings, especially in the Constitution Square. You will enjoy a romantic Greek dinner, while attending the famous Bourtzi castle located in the middle of the harbor of Nafplio and then you will spend your night in a charmy hotel.

 

Sixth Day : In the morning, and after breakfast, we continue our tour with driving to the famous Mycenae (the Kingdom of King Agamemnon). Amongst others, you will admire the Lions’ Gate, the Cyclopean Walls, the Treasure of Atreus (Agamemnon Grave), the Subterranean Cistern and the Archaeological Museum. Our next stop will be the Ancient Corinthos. You will find the famous “Vema” (tribunal) from where St. Paul preached the Corinthians. Further exploring the archaeological area you will meet the Temple of Apollo (built on a rocky hill), the Theatre, the Roman Odeon and the Glauke fountain into a natural rock. Your knowledge will be complemented in the Archaeological Museum. Final stop/visit is at Kechries port from where St. Paul started his trip to Ephesus.
